I've been thinking again today about how big God is. The Creator of the universe, the Ruler of everything we see - He can hold the world in His hand and He changes the very seasons. This is the God of eternity, the same as He has been for Adam, for Abraham, for Paul, and for John. When we think of Him in earthly terms, we might think He was busy and distracted. There is so much going on in our world, after all. So many countries in turmoil, wars and famines, diseases and natural disasters. Yet though He concerns Himself with all of this, He makes it very clear that He is interested in me.
Yes, in little old me. It's easy to feel so small when you think of the millions of stars and galaxies, yet He concerns Himself with this one small planet. And on that planet there is a particular continent, and on that continent a particular country, and in that country a particular town, and in that town a particular street, and on that street a particular house, and in that house a particular room... and He knows right where that is, and He knows that is where I am now. And with everything else that is going on, He concerns Himself with me... with my cares and my fears, with my joys and troubles, with my problems and my triumphs.
It's hard to be too worried about the future when you really stop and think about that.

ReplyDeleteOh Rachel, this is just SO good! Because He is just THAT good! I was meditating on the same thoughts the night before I had Emma. God knows all of our struggles and fears and trials, and He is just so much bigger than all of them, and knows little, old "each one of us" so unconditionally and completely! Good thoughts!
